Part 1: Foundations of Catholic Parenting

Synopsis

As Catholic parents, we “receive from God the gift of a new responsibility to become for the children the visible sign of the very love of God.” (Familiaris Consortio, 14). and are called to be the primary evangelizers of our children. 

We will discuss how to build the foundation that forms the base of our mission upon Jesus Christ, and the pillars that support our mission.

Part 2: Forming Our Children in Faith and Virtues 

Synopsis 

As Catholic parents, we play a crucial role in forming our children in the faith and virtues as “teaching witnesses”.

By drawing on the richness of the teaching from Gaudium et Spes – “man can fully discover his true self only in a sincere giving of himself” (GS, n. 24) the talk will explore what we are truly longing for, and what in the end will give us meaning in life - a deeper relationship with God and loving as He loves.

About Dr John Hui

John is a husband, father and doting grandfather. He is a Family Physician in private practice and host of the podcast series Catholic Parents Online. John obtained a graduate diploma in Bioethics from the Pontifical John Paul II Institute for Marriage and Family. He is also a certified Natural Family Planning Medical Consultant with the Pope Paul VI Institute. Together with his wife Geraldine, they served together in Marriage Preparation Course from 1999 to 2020. He was also the Master of the Catholic Medical Guild from 1998 to 2006 and served as the chariman of the Archdiocesan Commission for the Family from 2014 to 2017.
