What Does A Child Truly Want From Their Father?
“Children want your time. They spell love as T-I-M-E,” shared Clement Ong to a group of nearly 20 fathers at St Joseph’s Church, Bukit Timah for the talk, ‘A Father’s Mission’.
Clement, who is a certified coach, therapist, and father of two, explained that many fathers (himself included) fall victim to rationalising that the time spent away from their children, would be made up through quality time.
“You cannot truly have quality time without the quantity time,” he said.
The fathers gathered at the talk were then given a chance to break up into groups and discuss the various challenges they face, and how they can work on overcoming them.
“To me, it’s communication. I have one idea on how to do things, and my wife has another,” shared one father.
Another father shared, “I find myself too exhausted when I come back from work, and I find it difficult to be present.”
Clement addressed their concerns and challenges and assured them that by choosing to be present for the talk, they have already taken that first step in the right direction.
A Father’s Mission sets fathers on the path to become the fathers God has called them to be. Emulating St Joseph through practical insights, the fathers talk addresses the challenges faced by fathers and how best to take accountability.
If you have missed this talk for fathers, fret not, there is another one coming up soon. Do check out the upcoming events at Catholic Family Life’s website.
