How do I live out Christ’s call to serve in my everyday life?

In the first reading, Isaiah speaks of the suffering servant who willingly gives his life, and in Mark’s Gospel, Jesus challenges the disciples to see greatness not in power but in humble service. These readings remind me of the essence of service and sacrifice, and as I reflect, I can’t help but think of my own role within my family.

Often, as parents, we find ourselves in moments of giving—our time, energy, and love to meet the needs of our children and partner. How do we feel about these sacrifices? Do we give grudgingly, or can we see these everyday acts of love, however small, as ways we participate in God's mission? Whether it’s comforting a child after a difficult day or simply being present at the dinner table, these are opportunities to serve one another as Christ has taught us.

As we celebrate Mission Sunday, I am reminded that mission begins at home. I ask myself: how can we, as a family, reflect Christ’s selflessness? Can we show patience when tempers flare or offer support to one another in times of stress? Just like Jesus, we are invited to be servants, offering our lives not for personal glory but for the good of others. May we remember that this is our family’s mission, lived out in the everyday, reflecting God’s love in all we do!
