OUR THERAPISTS
Our therapy team is made up of full-time and associate therapists, offering both online and face-to-face counselling and therapy for a wide range of issues across the lifespan. All our therapists have post-graduate professional qualifications in counselling and therapy, and years of clinical experience. It is our hope to empower families, couples and individuals to thrive in every life-stage, while supporting and journeying with those facing personal difficulties or challenges in their relationships, to help them flourish again.
Andre Tan
Andre’s core interest is in personal development and relational success in familial and relationship dynamics. Well travelled and experienced in cultural diversity, he finds himself well acquainted with the conflicts between personal, organisational and familial goals in his journey as a professional counsellor.
Benedict Lam
Benedict, together with his wife, has been active in Christian family communities for more than 20 years. He has experience in counselling individuals, couples and families, working on issues such as stress, anxiety, compulsive behaviour and family/ marital/ relational conflicts. His therapeutic approach is to hold a safe space for his clients to connect with their emotions and to explore attachment needs, in a systematic framework.
Clement Ong
Clement holds special interests in fathering, marital, family and career issues. He is a couple mentor with the Couple Mentor Journey Programme and a certified career coach who works with clients looking for directions and in career transitions.
Daniel Ng
Daniel has many years of clinical experience working with families and individuals across the lifespan. He is experienced in supporting and assisting individuals and families facing various forms of distress, both through the use of therapy and counselling, as well as connecting them with external resources. He also provided supervision and training. He believes strongly in providing a safe space for clients, with special interests in couple work, young families, ageing-in-place and grief/ bereavement issues.
Desieree Makalew
Desieree’s personal and professional journey has imbued her with a passion to empower individuals to be the best version of themselves. She has experience working in France, Japan and Indonesia, before settling down in Singapore. Those experiences have provided her with opportunities to interact with people from different cultures and to understand the importance of mental well-being in our daily life. Before being an associate therapist with Catholic Family Life, she has served as a volunteer counsellor since 2015.
Karen Chok
Karen believes in being client-centered where she actively collaborates with individuals/ couples/ families to manage their issues & conflicts while highlighting & working together on their strengths & growth areas. To help clients holistically, Karen adopts an integrative systemic mindset. She incorporates various therapeutic strategies and techniques, relevant to the biopsychosocial context in which her clients are in, to meet their needs effectively.
Koh Lay Nah
Lay Nah is passionate about facilitating positive transformation in people’s lives. She has experience working with children, teenagers, couples and individual via face-to-face counselling, mentoring and coaching. Lay Nah has previous experience as a part-time counsellor in a primary school.
Richard Goh
Richard is a Certified Gottman Educator and certified in Gottman Method Couples Therapy. He uses this evidence-based approach in his therapeutic work with couples. He is passionate and experienced in counselling troubled individuals, couples and families in distress. He provides counselling in healing relationships, first within self and then with each other in the family through an Integrative Systemic Therapeutic Approach.
Sue Richmond
Sue has been working with couples and families for almost four decades. She adopts an integrative systemic approach when she works with her clients. She has been working with clients on their anxiety, pregnancy related issues, couple and family relationship issues.
Theresa Bung
Theresa has extensive clinical experience working with children, adolescents, individuals, couples and families. Theresa’s training spans across Gestalt Therapy, Satir Therapy, Solution Focus Brief Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Emotional Focus Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
She is an experienced clinical supervisor and is passionate in developing and mentoring less experienced therapists. She has also been featured in various print and online media sharing her expertise regarding relationships, family bonding and parenting.
Warton Ong
Warton is fascinated by neuroscience, the psychology of learning and psycho-social growth. He is a professional counsellor in private practice and has been volunteering at Catholic Family Life since 2008. Warton also provides clinical supervision for counselling students and practitioners, and is also involved in teaching and training in the areas of family life education and mental health and wellness.
